About Us: Who we are
Applied
Language Services was established in 1990 by Dot Bell. Born in Graz, Austria
and involved with languages all her working life, Dot set up the business
to meet a growing demand for language services with the forthcoming Single
European Community in view at that time.
We have a team of translators, mostly located within the country of the target language. All translators are carefully selected on the basis of their expertise and qualifications. Many have been with us since the start.
Meet some of the team.
Ann joined us in January 2005 and she looks after office administration. She came to us with many years experience in all aspects of running an office. It will normally be Ann who answers the phone and she'll be pleased to help with any enquiries.
Ulrike is our regular German technical translator. She joined us in 1996. Her expertise is in the field of mechanical engineering with specific knowledge of motor mechanics and environmental engineering (especially waste disposal and waste water treatment) and health and safety.
Noemi has been one of our team for over 11 years (she doesn't look old enough I know!). She translates a whole range of subjects into Spanish including medical, technical, financial and general commercial texts.
If you have technical text requiring translation into Dutch then Otto will be the man most likely to be completing the job for you. He has done translations for us in a whole range of subjects over a number of years. Areas he covers include mechanical and electrical engineering, motor technology, computer technology as well as subjects within the financial and legal fields.
For more general commercial texts into Dutch, we have been using Roos. She has been involved in numerous marketing and advertising projects for us. She is also an expert in the field of education.
The Italian Job. Alessandro, Sonia, Michaela, Antonio and Alessia. Alessandro, with his 15 years experience in translating, heads our regular team in Italy. Between them they can cover a whole range of subjects, including I.T., Mechnical Engineering, Finance, Legal and Medical texts, as well as Marketing and general Commercial subjects.
Alex is our man in Greece. He has a BSc Honours degree in Computer Science (First Class), from Cardiff University, UK. He has been a professional translator for the past 6 years and we are pleased that he has worked with us for most of that time. His areas of specialization: IT, Manuals, software, hardware, general, technical.
Another long-standing member of our team, Justyna translates into Polish for us. She has covered several subjects including many marketing projects for a regular multi-national client.
Armelle has been with us over 6 years. She has a degree in translation from a French University and covers a whole range of subjects. For us her skills in commercial and marketing fields have been of great value.
Annette has joined us more recently than some other translators but she has worked very hard for us over the last 4 years on translations into German. The subjects have covered marketing, advertising and some areas of law and finance.
My translator in Israel over the past 6 years has been Helen. We have worked on many projects together involving translations into Hebrew covering many areas of general commerce and marketing.
Braulio has been translating into Spanish for us for over 6 years. He has been a professional translator for 20 years. He translates mainly technical texts for us. He has the unusual added talent that he is a member of equity, so if you need a voice-over in Spanish, he's the man.
Our Spanish translator in Argentina is Pat. She has been working with us for over 7 years now and is able to translate both into and from Spanish. She's a graduate and registered legal translator.Another of her specializations is finances and she also covers a wide range of marketing, technical and general commercial subjects.
